IM stumped

ok here we go again I have a 1963 f100 with the 223.
I have had to replace the exaust manifold with a header giving it dual exaust.
the engin was running rough like an electrial problum now it wont start at all.
I have replaced the plugs points wires dist cap cond but it just wont fire. I have fire coming out ofthe coil and getting fire to the plugs.
where else can i look for an isue. I am not for sure if it may have skipped time or I could have some wires crossed. the cap is numbered 1-6 and the plug wires are matched to that. is this right or is the firing order diferant.

dose anyone have a clue what it could be. everything was working untell I removed the old dist cap and checked the old points and now I have nothing.
???????????????

153624 is the 223 firing order.

Bring the engine to TDC on number one cylinder. Look to where the distributor rotor is pointing and that is number one post. Set the order from there.

Here is a decent site with 223 specs. Ford 223 Inline 6 Cylinder Engine Specs, Firing Order and Information : Engine Facts.com

I like how youre dad tied the firing order together. I do a smillar thing with my son when we are working on things that require #'s.

Masterqi even if spelling is an issue, he owns a FORD. It could be soooo much worse, like trying to swap in a yugo drivetrain in it or yet another die hard Chevy fan that can't figure out how to work on their own vehicle...

This same kind of thing recently happened to me. My truck wouldn't start and when it did barely start it ran terribly rough. Prior to this it was running very well as i had; rebuilt the carb, replaced fuel filter, added a new inline filter, replaced the plugs, wires, rotor, cap, adjusted the timing with a light, and the important one (more on that later), I replaced the points system with a pertronix points eliminator.
Here's the steps I took to an end that turned out to be a very simple fix albeit different from yours invariably. It sounded like at first I had a fuel issue as the motor was running terribly, spurting, hesitation, seemingly starving for fuel. I though I had trash in the line so I took my gas cap off and disconnected the fuel line going to the pump and with a grocery bag covered mouth I blew into the tank. No resistance whatsoever. I ruled out a clogged line going into the pump. I then did a pressue test with a proper gauge (my brother is a professional mechanic. Lots of tools I borrow) and it tested fine. The fuel pump is fully operational. I tested my accelerator pump and had a nice healthy squirt of fuel through the venturis.
Now I negated all the fuel issues as I had fuel with proper pressure going to carb and the carb was clean and rebuilt days prior.
I stared blankly at the 45 year old 352 in the 90 degree late night Georgia heat and stood dumbfounded. I had checked everything. Then I had a revelation. The pertronix points eliminator gave me grief after the install and i found that because it wasn't lined up perfectly inside the distributor it caused all the problems I was having. I got a rubber o ring and lined the magnetic sleeve up with the eliminator, fired the engine right up, and it ran beautifully.
Now you don't have a pertronix system at least you didn't mention one. I think, based on my experience, that your problem lies in the distributor. Remember, I got spark and fuel but the motor ran very very poorly when it would start, which was not often. Just because you have spark doesn't mean the ignition is working properly. Just my 2 cents. Hope this helps.

yes it dose every thing helps.

As far as the spelling goes after being up 48 hours and working in the heat all day on the truck and working with not one but 2 double headed plasma cutters. While cutting 3/4 inch to 2 in plate steal. 10 hours a night i could care less about spelling.

Im sorry guys.
Yes spelling is not my strong thing in life but I try.
I never coment on a disability that someone has so I get a little heated when I see people do it.
I just dont belive anyone should come here and talk about spelling when we are talking about FORD TRUCKS after all its a truck forum not a spelling bee.

When you checked the points what was done?

LOL I can't tell you how many times I am reading a document as I type on a keyboard to find that I have been off 1 key the entire 4 pages I just typed out. So what is the point of this, if you really look close and take the time to see what is before you, you will discover you know what is being comminicated.

after i put the header in place the truck ran rough. it was acting as an elect problum. it would start easy but would not keep running. I removed the dist cap and checked the points. they where same as shot. So I replaced the plugs all 6 of them where compleaty closed off from build up.
Only having the truck for a short time and spending several months looking for the exaust manifold i havnt done much to it.
I felt it was best to replace every thing new and it hasnt started again.

Make sure you gapped the points correctly and you have the correct firing order. Also, did you replace the rotor? If so, make sure it's on the right way. I have made that mistake as well. Maybe buy a new coil and see if that helps also. After all, you can always return it! Keep trying and don't give up. Fill us in on any new developments. Good luck!
