You can use Mercon V (i do), it will be the better one at keeping your tranny in good shape. The only thing is it doesn't play well with other specifications, so the tranny has to be flushed and filled completely with Mercon V if you wish to use it.

The TSB doesn't mention if there would be an issue with mixing the old Mercon with the Mercon V.
And it would seem that my 92 F150 4x4 shouldnt have a problem using Mercon V in the transfer case and M5R2 manual transmission.
And isn't it true that Mercon V is a semi synthetic blend??
