So I know you guys like to hunt Excursions!

Not even much more than just a thought right now but since I found rust on my X I have had the thought of finding a replacement from texas.

I would be interested to see prices of nice/mint 7.3 2wd X's in or close to texas.

I have a buddy looking for an X "exactly like mine" so you never know what will happen.

2wd only.

Musts are 7.3 diesel, 2wd, and in mint condition (or so close to it Micheal couldn't tell the difference).

Changed a COP in a Menards parking lot today on the way home from camping. Actually 2 since I believed the pending code and then had to play find the dead cylinder. Got lucky, it was # 2, so very easy to change. Yes, I carry an extra with me.

Russ, in 2010 didnt you still have the original red EX? Then the black one that got bent and then the current red one?
Mine is only at 120K original miles with all of the factory COP and new plugs and boots at 105K and no misfires.

Mine has a random misfire on cylinder 8 if it sits for 3 or 4 days, I think it's moisture related, it goes away after it warms up. I still have 2 spare denso/motorcrsft cops, got to swap one in one of these days.

And I noticed the front passenger side caliper seems to be locking up intermittently. From what I remember from the last brake job the caliper was in good shape. I think I need to do a proper flush/bleed of the entire brake system.

I have 7 originals. The one that quit this time was an unmarked replacement. Last time one of them quit was 2011 and 70K miles. I can live with that!

Exactly haha, in 2010 I owned 3 different Excursions. Sold the 2004 Excursion in June, bought a 2001 Explorer, Sold the Explorer and bought the 2000 Excursion in August and it was totaled 2 months later on October 15th 2010. October 30th 2010 (maybe 31st) I bought my current 2002 Excursion with 102k miles on it

The Chevelle is in the car hauler and the Ex is hooked up ready to take it to Charlotte for a show. I would drive the Chevelle but it would get buggy on the way there, wife and kid wouldn't be able to eat their Bojangles biscuit in the car and lastly the idiots on the road aim for it like it has a bullseye on it.

Got back from a 1700 mile round trip last night to CO elk hunting. I thought I worked out most of the kinks before I left but it overheated on the mountain climbs (not pulling anything and maybe 1000 pounds of gear.) Has a new water pump and hoses. Replaced thermostat as my IR gun was reading the upper radiator hose significantly cooler than the thermostat housing. The new thermostat worked as it should opening at the correct temp but then it was back to the same issue. I'm suspecting a partially blocked/bad radiator or possibly a small head gasket/head leak that only shows up under heavy, extended load. Also the suspension obviously needs some work. I'll be diving in to that this week.

All in all, it performed pretty good and took me up the mountain on some roads that weren't really roads, lol. Not too bad for only having it a month and 255k on the clock when I bought it. (2000 v10)

Ha, no, unfortunately not. Could have shot a black bear 4 separate times but I never had a shot on an elk.

Round tripped Charlotte (200 miles) on Saturday with the car hauler in tow, Ex ran great, trailer pulled easy and car showed well, no trophies but it is all about the camaraderie and not the cars.

Mine was doing the same thing and it turned out to be a bad fan clutch. I bought a cheap one off Amazon which was a mistake because it now never unlocks so I'll be buying another better quality unit. Point is, as soon as I replaced the fan clutch, all my overheating problems went away. I was hitting 230° pulling Fort Mountain with my camper in tow before. After I replaced the clutch, it was running right at 200° when I topped the same mountain. Just a thought...
