What did you do to the X today?
Replaced the driver side needle bearing that supports the stub shaft when hubs are unlocked. Apparent that I had some water intrusion. Cleaned it to the best of my abilities before reassembly, these pics are from the tear down:
New toy made it much easier. I wish I had this when I did my leaf springs...
Large socket works fine due to my lack of a press:
Although this picture is dark, if you look closely you can see that the old bearing was completely toast:
I also went ahead and plugged both vacuum ports on the hubs and ripped the vacuum lines off and capped them near the reservoir.

Been there, done that. =)
As is apparently tradition when you buy a used vehicle. I've had to do that with I think every first oil change.
Replaced the fan clutch on a Friday afternoon right before heading out with the camper. Last time I made the trip up Fort Mountain, my engine temp was 231° and my trans was at 215° when I topped out. New fan clutch from Amazon because it was what I could get quickly. It is not nearly as large or heavy as the one I removed but it was cheap enough to not make me cry if it didn't turn out the be the problem. The good thing is I topped the mountain at 204° engine temp and 196° transmission temp and those temps remained steady for the last 2/3's of the pull. The bad thing is I don't think it has disengaged once since I put it on there. I guess a quality replacement is in the works for this winter.

Checked the EBP sensor and tube - it came off easily, and it was fairly clean inside. The previous owner did a water pump, I'm guessing they at least cleaned, and possibly replaced the EBP sensor at the same time.
Looked around for the grey vacuum tube in the engine compartment, the one that goes to the heater valve. Not to be found. Rats! (literally)
Ordered one of them fancy radios from wanaco100 on eBay. There is a 15% off eBay deal using the code PREGAME15 until 10PM PST tonight. I wound up with about $73 off.
