Broke 150,000 on the way to a camping trip. Still hard to believe how well the EX pulls 10k. And the Hensley Arrow, can't say enough good things about it.

Considering the conditions, what temp would you normally expect to see ?

Why No?

I just did a three hour run to the coast and back, and the oil temps were about 10 or more degrees cooler than the coolant (they are normally both about 210...).

The engine ran cool and strong all day. I love how the diesel runs and honestly, I love the look of the vents.

Yeah, as good as that Hensley is, 80 MPH towing seems a little fast. If you have ST tires on the TT they are most likely speed rated to only 65 MPH.
I will admit to towing up to 72/73 MPH when conditions are good but I also have a TPMS to keep constant tabs on (all 8) tire temps and pressures. On hot days I keep down closer to that 65 rating.

That's the thing, idk with this rig.. This is the first time pulling heavy in the heat with it. I've only had this rig for 8-10 months. But with a Mishimoto low temp stat I thought they would be lower. Like 210 at the most. Trans temp was good, EGTs stayed good, oil was about same as water. I'm thinkin the clutch fan isn't up to par.

I like the look of them; and anything to get the engine to perfom better is a plus.

I am running OEM thermostat but I usually see 220° when towing the TT. I know you have a low temp thermo but your fan is still set to kick on like normal. I would think that if you're pulling a heavy load and moving slower, your fan speed is going to control the temp more than the thermostat.

One of us needs to re-calibrate their speedo, I was doing 70 and still not gaining on you.

First time on a long road trip with the X. Just finished up Cali to Missouri..., aside from learning she eats oil, she did pretty awesome!

First off road time since getting new shocks and wheels, shuttled some folks back and forth across 70 acres to go blow some stuff up and shoot some bad *** guns. Truck handled quick nicely.

You will get more response in the diesel forum. this is the excursion forum, which includes a 6.0 diesel but there are more people that can help you in the diesel forum.

Ya I can understand that, but the fan should be able to cool that bugger right down when I kicks in. But that's the thing, it only kicked in fully for a min at a time. And it didn't do it very often. I was running between 70-75

I left it idle in the driveway for 10 min after I got home, and it cooled down to 195. So I'm thinkin it's a air flow issue more so than a water flow issue.

With the 7.3 the readout isn't accurate for water temp, but I can read EOT, that was right at the same temp as the water. I did order a different guage though. Same guage as I have for trans temp, so easier to read exact temps.

You're right, I should have gone a little slower, your engine is smaller than mine. . And my trailer was smirking at your rig the whole time too!

So, I was just cleaning out the Ex after our day-trip yesterday, when I hear this low rumble of a radial engine aircraft flying my direction. Well, I am a bit of a plane/helicopter nut, so I had to stop and see what was coming my direction.

All of a sudden a tear in the fabric of time must have occurred, because appearing over the trees is a B-24 Liberator! I was so stunned (I don't think I have ever seen one flying before) I just stood there and watched. Then as it disappeared from view, all I could think of was "why did I not take a picture?"

With the excitement over, I want back to cleaning out the rig. It is amazing how kids can seem to multiply the level of trash in the back seats...
