What did you do to the X today?
quick question, about a week ago, I deprogrammed the Ex back to stock in prep for my upcoming emissions test. It had been about 5 days and over 200 miles since then, but the code reader is still telling me that more driving is needed...
How much driving do I need to do before the stock computer program learns?

Checked my order from RiffRaff to see how much longer I have to wait and when I clicked on the UPS tracking link it said "Information unavailable, severe weather impacting delivery in Texas" thought that was weird since I live in Ohio. Luckily I don't need the truck right away since the kids are out of school. I was hoping to be able to say that I was driving it to take the family out on A Day Out With Thomas tomorrow. Oh well, they'll still have a blast.

Interesting, because right now it is acting like there is a code, but it just tells me that more driving is needed. However, when I upload an SCT program, I don't get this same reading...
Try doing the generic SCT trans only tune. It took about a week and over 500 miles of mixed driving for my p1000 code to go away without any kind of time on. On another note my RiffRaff order delivery got delayed through the end of business on 6/1. I might just year the truck apart tomorrow to be ready.
Today I bought an SCT x4 for the Ex. Now my question is, since I have no "performance" mods, are custom tunes necessary or will I see a difference in trans shifting, throttle response etc with the canned tunes? I am going to save my pennies for a set of 3 87octane tunes in the near future, econo, tow and burn gas even quicker.

I can't answer your exact question because I have never run any "canned" tunes on my EX, only custom tunes from 5Star Tuning along with my mods (Banks headers, 4.88 gears and 35" tires). I work my V-10 pretty well towing our 11,000lb TT regularly and I am a very happy 5Star customer.
Other members here have run the SCT "canned" tunes then later upgraded to custom tunes (Apocalypse comes to mind) and were pleased with the improvements over stock with the canned tunes but were impressed with the even better custom tunes. Give those canned tunes a try and keep saving your pennies!
I have the 87 Econo (which I like for solo running, it will be in OD and locked up before 35 MPH), 87 Tow (which I feel would be great for a more aggressive tow driver, but it doesn't match my driving style, it is too quick to downshift on grades for me), 87 Performance (I use this great tune on most of my tow trips, great upgrade and will hold onto OD much better climbing hills than stock), 89 Tow (same opinion as the 87 Tow tune but better performance) and 89 Performance (which is my go-to tune for any tow trips with lots of mountains along the route, awesome performance that improves the towing MPGs nicely!). With my setup I regularly see from 8 to 9.25 MPG towing 65-70 MPH even through the mountains here in the East.
Distance or time dont have nothing to do for the obdII files to said ready. it has to do with the way it needs to be driven. this is how I do obdII cycles: start the vehicle cold, drive it on a hwy but do not go over 60 mph and do not use cruise control. the PCM need to see a different speed input. drive for about 10 miles then pull over let the vehicle idle, then drive 10 more the same way. 9 out of 10 you will get the cycle done that way. one you do your first start cold do not turn it off till done.
Nope we went out to Wasilla for the night, had a great time.
On the way more I took a few vids, I've been asked how loud the glasspack is towing, I don't mind it at all much better then no muffler.

Man you sure laid into the gas pedal when gunning it up the hill lol. 5k plus rpm's?
She didn't seem to mind that load on back, but why would she when she can pull way more than that. It's a V10 right? Can't remember did you tune it yet or besides glasspack all stock?
When I picked up my 5er the other day new purchase for my family I got to talking with the maintenance guy about Ford Diesels as my dually is 6.0 but then we switched topics to the V10 talking about my wife's Excursion and he mentioned removing the Y pipe I think it is which is a reducer or something of the sort that due to emissions causes us to loose power. So I might look into that once I dump these California plates and register NY since I won't be going back there anytime soon. I can do that as I did on my 6.0 and went straight pipe MBRP turbo back no cat and no muffler.
Must have been a mark across your windshield but first pic looks like it's cracked?

I always lay on the gas, my truck see's 5k RPM's multiple times a day just commuting and running around town, when towing I want to get moving as quickly as possible so I run her hard.
Yup V10 with SCT3 tuner (almost 6 years w/that tune) and Glasspack, otherwise stock. The 3.73 gears suck though I basically have to lock out O/D when i'm towing the trailer or else it's hunting all the time.
