What did you do to the X today?
That's not a huge deal; you don't replace the whole thing. Just get a flare tool and some fittings to splice a new section in.
You can replace the whole thing if that's easier, at that point it's all a matter of preference. I don't think you can even get preformed lines that long, so that may involve bending your own from a roll of brake hose.
Of course I don't know what your other end looks like, but I'd just replace the bad parts.

Just replace the rusty parts of the line, and no the plug isn't bad. At your age you shouldn't get in the habit of paying to fix everything because you will never learn to fix anything that way. One of these days you won't have the money and your wife will say; why don't YOU fix it?
Skip, i have no idea what my wheels are rated at weight wise. I'll try to find out but it was not really a concern of mine when buying.
I'd pay to have a brake line done, just easier that way. Glad I've never had to mess with a brake line.
where did the plug come from?
I drug my trailer 120+ miles, between last night and today. going to fill up once i unhook, all highway and locked out O/D and looks like about 8 MPG ish.

Bout 4,500lbs estimated weight, It could not hold O/D and 70-73mph on flat ground very well, but when i started getting into the hills it was dropping into 2nd to hold the speed i wanted to. the 3.73's just kill me but she loves humming along at 3k rpm and 70-73mph in 3rd gear.
I lock out O/D 90% of the time anyhow (first thing i do when i put it in gear) unless i'm on the highway (not towing and 65mph+) for a sustained about of time because it likes to up shift when i don't want it to (even with it set not to shift until 55mph a lot of times in town i hit that often) so i'm pretty much used to a 3 speed

I have a (ever growing it seems) list of things i'll pay to have done VS do myself, most of it is not because i don't think i can do it, but i just don't want to or have no free time.
some of those things include:
Transmission work
rear end work
ball joints
tie rods
u joints
brake lines
in depth engine work
looked at my silent armor wranglers that are on the ex they are E rated and only listed to 3400 lbs, so im guessing the 3300lb rims im thinking about will be fine.
how are you guys hauling so much tounge weight with only e rated tires? just risking it or what? even with 1200 lbs toung weight i dont believe there is anymore then 6600 lbs on the rear wheels of my excursion. but who knows.
also a concern of mine is are the after market rims hubcentric? anyone know of a aftermarket rim that is so i can look at them?
man the stock rims are looking better and better to keep the more i think about it.
