400 bucks just to ceramic coat the manifolds, another 100 a ft to do pipe and they can only promis a foot in since you cant get a spray inside the tube.
Back to the original post,...ATS was the suppler of the Ford Factory IDI Turbo Diesels back in 93 and 94,...They were an ATS Turbo Kit that had "Ford" on the intake, instead of ATS.
i know that, but they are talking about ats making kits for the idi, as well as hypermax.
im gonna buy a powder coating system and a used electric oven to shove in the shop and do it myself. im not gonna spend that kinda money for them to do it. i was gonna have them do it when they do my 6.9l pistons but f-that noise lol. i an do it here for $100 thanks for the offer though man.
ive got a guy here who does electric gates with standard coating. he said i can bring my exhaust system down there (its 1 piece turbo back) and he will spray it and bake it for me. just gotta decide a color.
I have had Ceramic coatings applied by several different companies, The only one I found to hold up was Jet-Hot's 2000, All others were junk IMO! All others cracked and eventually popped off from heat cycles, Even both the Jet-Hot Silvers fail.
And it'll scare the living crap out of ya when it cracks because it sounds like heads or blocks cracking! Not a tinny tube type crack sound.
I have some headers that are completely folded into wads with the Jet-Hot 2k and it's still there, no cracking or lifting even in the deep creases and impact areas.
Just remember ... MAKE CERTAIN you want it, It cannot be removed!
As far as I know they have no internal length limit, I have some tubes that exceed 68" and they are fully coated internally and externally.
It is not cheap, but it's worth it ... You get what you pay for!
I have a 8' x 12' foot industrial powder coat oven at my disposal *evil grin*
When the owner had me setup and our powder coat department he wanted an oven big enough to fit a hot rod frame in.... just in case he ever built a hot rod lol
I plan to try some the ceramic powder from NIC on my manifolds whenever I get around to affording a turbo.
When I built my motor, I was all for coated pistons, and maybe the head combustion chambers.
My machinist builds a lot of race motors for the local dirt track, drag racers and mud boggers.
After several high dollars race motors had cylinder damage from the ceramic flaking off while racing, he recommended against the ceramic coating, inside the engine or pre turbo exhaust system inside.
So my engine, no ceramic coating on anything internal.

I agree Dave, I would not ceramic coat pistons or combustion chambers.
Some of the motors I build are required to have Nikasil coated cylinders (stinking rule books), I hate the crap and it has cost many a racer a motor.
However, I am a HUGE fan of TFE Coated skirts.
As for pre Turbo exhaust piping, I would not use high temperature ceramic powder coating ... Jet-Hot 2K is nothing like high temperature ceramic powder coating.
That is what their Silver is, high temperature ceramic powder coating baked at about 420*F.
IIRC the JH2k was developed for NASA, for use on the Shuttles Exhaust Nozzles and later used on some military aircraft exhaust nozzles, it is baked with a patented multistage baking process at final temperatures that exceed 1200*F and is guaranteed to protect it's base to 2450*F.
Sorry for the passion, I love the JH2k and would have no issues coating the interior piping leading into a Turbo and never a worry about it flaking off and killing a Turbo. It is no high temperature ceramic powder coating thats for sure.
It's looking like Hypermax is the only one left, Banks quit about a year ago, It appears ATS has also given up on us!
However, there are ATS, Ford (ATS), Banks and Hypermax Turbo's for the 6.9/7.3 IDI motors.
There might be a couple others you don't hear much about, they are OOB as well.
Just doing a little research and JH2k does sound pretty sweet for race applications.... don't really see a reason to spend that much cash on a daily driver street rig.
Banks is still listing the sidewinder turbo kit for our trucks on their website and they are always on ebay. Spendy tho at around 3k for the complete kit.
Banks no longer makes side winder turbo kits but there are a whole lot of new ones on shelfs. And from what I've heard and seens like the likeliest answer ATS's toolling for the IDI stuff wore out so they are no longer make products for the IDI and their shelfs are barren of 3" turno outlets and down pipes. Lets face it there isn't enough of these trucks out there with out a turbo or with the crummy 2.5" downpipe for there to be a profit margen to keep producing the stuff let alone retool. Hypermax doesn't still make a turbo for our trucks either they just have a enormus amount of inventory, They also have some stock left from back in the day of parts for making Big HP 7.3s and 6.9s just don't mention it on oil burners or a certain Mod will put you on time out. after seeing a banks kit first hand that my buddy is putting on his truck I fell the ATS 093 was by far the best kit the banks is set up striaght retarded and waste gated at way too high a level for a non studded 6.9 and the hypermax well if you like lag or having to run four times the fule you can burn eficiently to increas the boost a couple PSI go for it, Of coures if I were N/A I would go hypermax hands down they don't make the kit any more but they still support it un like ATS and the banks kit makes me wounder how they even built any of the race vehicles they have.
