Why can't you use the stock fuel bowl with a SD elec. pump in line like the SD

Stock fuel bowl is low pressure only, 5-7 PSI.

I'm trying to think how you could set up the stock bowl w/ electric fuel, but part of the gain to electric fuel is getting rid of the stock bowl. the stock bowl doesn't flow all that great IMO. it wouldn't cost much to swap to filters on the frame rail either. Mind if i ask why your wanting to keep the stock bowl?

I don't think a Super Duty pump will suck the fuel up to the top of the motor.
They push fuel better than they pull fuel.

If I remember right, the SD pump puts out over 100 PSI.

The fuel filter lid on the OBS has almost 12.5 sq. in of area.

So that lid would have to hold over 1250 pounds of total pressure.

I don't see that happening.

The lid and housing are what will see the high pressures since they have so much surface area.

100 PSI is not that much, but when it is on a large surface area those numbers start adding up fast.

The stock filter housing is not designed for that kind of pressure.
If you want to try it, carry a fire extinguisher with you and be prepared for a LOT more $$ in repairs if it does let go.
Is it really worth burning your truck to the ground in a blaze of glory to try to prove that an idea may or may not work?

I might sound extreme, but we're talking about possibly spraying fuel on a hot motor, and that's not something I would mess with. It might hold for a minute, maybe a month, maybe a year or 2. But IF it does crack the housing or blow the lid off, what then?

Just do it right the first time and don't worry about it.

The bowl/lid will not hold that pressure. You will have fuel everywhere and I hope for your sake the engine is not hot.
Don't try it.
