I am completely replacing my air conditioning system on my 1985 Ford F150. I have all new Motorcraft components, except for the hoses, which are obsolete.
Where is the best place to get a good quality set of replacement A/C hoses? What brand should I look for?
I recently blew a hose in my 1989 E150 Club Wagon with front and rear A/C, and ran in to the same problem.........so my Mechanic knew of a place in town (St. Petersburg, Florida), that rebuilds hoses, putting new rubber on the old metal parts and he did so for me for $110. A lot of money but what are 'ya gonna do? It works fine now and I have every confidence in it. If you live near a major city, probably there is a place there that also will rebuild the hose for you.
Most any Auto AC shop can do it as well as many auto parts stores.
$110 for one hose is a little high. $110 for the manifold assembly and the two hoses would be about right, with the mechanics markup added in.
Hi hhott71........
Mine was for the dual A/C system in a Club Wagon. Don't remember if it had 3 or 4 metal sections using 2 or 3 rubber sections, anyway, it was pretty big. Comparable hoses from the Auto Parts stores ran about $90 if I remember, but they had none to fit my particular unit. Bottom line being for the OP, I could not find a replacement either, and my rebuilt one works fine........ even if pricy.
I just happened to think, Lariat......if you're going to have your hose rebuilt, and if you're of a mind to, this would be a perfect time to have the metal parts of the hose Chrome Plated for show.
