my little brother's 91 bronco is dying out every time you touch the gas pedal. the only codes are for a thermactor and an ignition grounding problem(acording to my scanner). we also noticed that when it starts to die out the timing light goes dead also it has a new ignition module, tps, egr valve, and many more parts. what should i check or do now? i'm at a loss. i'm used to 66 f100's and idi deisel's that don't have this kind of hidden problems
Your "ignition grounding" problem is the issue here. Not knowing the exact code you are getting I can't be certain but the symptoms you describe are indicative of a dying PIP sensor or failed wiring in that area. A lot of folks don't possess the patience to troubleshoot or replace a PIP sensor but it can be done and for less money than replacing the entire dizzy.
I could be off but I could be certain if I knew exactly what code numbers you are getting.
i'll try a dizzy tomorrow. i can't remember the codes of the top of my head but rite now the memory only shows an 18, and i believe a 44. there was something like 65 or 64 and 70 something. one was a brake light and the other was a trans thing. i'll chime in tomorrow with the results of the dizzy.
