Smile Just got back from Pittsburgh

I just got back from driving my 2008 F-350 crew cab dually on my yearly pilgimage from Houston to Pittsburgh and back. It`s around 3000 mi. up there and back. I like to take a couple of weeks off of work to get away from the heat of summer and visit my family up there around my Grandmothers birthday. She just turned 95 and is doing good.

Since I bought the truck in April, off a used car lot w/only 4500 mi. on it, I really never drove it far from home. By far it is the best vehicle I ever owned. I liked the way it pulled up the mountains with all that torque. I even got some compiments from a few folks.

The only problems that I had was the CD player ate a disc that I`d copied and I had to resort to listen to the local radio stations. And that exhaust cleaning deal came on when I was low on fuel one time and I got worried that It might run out before I could find another gas station.

Anyway the truck ran fine, and it got 14 mpg.. The same as my old F-150. And Champion Ford in Houston replaced the radio under warranty. Go Ford!

Great report. I take it this was a unloaded trip? Still pretty good for a dually.

Do you have GPS? I have a TomTom. I put all the truck stops in mine so I can search for them, based upon my estimated miles to empty.

I have been using Extra poi Editor to organize routes in my GPS. You can tell it to find your POI along the route you have. The trip 2500 mi trip one way I'm going on next year will have all the truck stops, cracker barrels, etc. along the route within 5 miles of the route. You can set it to be closer if you want.

http:// Yeah, I need to get a GPS. I could get better mpg going about 55-59 mph on level roads.
