Have a 2004 F250 6.0L. Installed a Edge Insight tonight to monitor my ECT/EOT.
at around 65MPR...
ect = 186 eot = 225 from what I'm reading this is very very bad...
Cooling tempature stayed between 186 - 190
Oil Temp started around 192 and just kept rising... Didn't think it would every stop....
I did a Sinister delete but left the EGR installed and plugged in based on some finding from Cheezit on the effects of it on the fan RPM.
My temp difference before was about 50-60 and more when towing. The weekend before I did the cooler rebuild, I went camping and was hitting the 250 mark and my Edge Evolution kept flashing warnings, what fun!
I am getting a P0401 for low EGR flow right now and its pi$$ing me off...since I thought my 03 would care.
one dealer is only quoting me 1,800 plus tax... all other are quoting around 2,500
It all depends on what they are doing. Are they just doing an EGR cooler replacement or EGR Cooler AND Oil Cooler, etc.
If they are replacing both, then 1800 doesn't sound bad at all because dealers don't usually do the oil cooler rebuild, instead they install a whole new assembly.
Of course this should include an oil change and a coolant flush as well.

It was quoted for new EGR cooler and Oil Cooler. What urks me is I changed the oil last week and the coolent was flushed today by the dealer for 186 bucks. They told me last time I had it in the EOT/ECT was within specks. So I get my edge insight today and found a 40 degree variance. Looks like there is going to be an angument with the dealer tomorrow....
I can't believe Ford let these 6.0 POS on the market....
I'll unplug my valve this weekend and play with the fan actuation to see if the unplugged vavle does or doesn't affect the fan on my truck.
According to cheezit, having it unplugged triggered a default mode which wouldn't allow the fan to come up to ful RPM when it was needed (i.e. 800 max versus 2800+ @ 2500RPM engine speed). That in itself was enough to scare me since when the fan is supposed to kick on is when I have it to the wood...
