Factory wheel size question

I have an 86 F250 2wd. It has the stock steel wheels with 235/85/16 tires. I saw a 91 or so f250 the other day with 265/75/16 tires. They look much better being an inch wider.

I think my stock wheels are 16x6. Has anyone run the 265s on a 16x6 wheel?

Thanks

I believe most stock rims on up through the later models are 6 inch. The only problem you might run into is the tire wearing in the center more than the outside because of the narrow rim. But I just sold a set of the Ford/Alcoa type tims with those size tires, and they didn't look like they where too wide on that rim.

I have run 265's on 16x6 wheels without issue:

The later wheels are 16x7 though, the Alcoas definatley are, and about 92 or so they switched the steelies over too.
