Any insight on this one here? I just changed my oil about a week ago and noticed that when I start up after the truck has sat for awhile as soon as it starts I'll get the oil pressure message on the odometer for maybe about a second and then it'll go out. It's only if the truck sat overnight or for a couple hours, otherwise there aren't any issues.
I know everyone says to use a Motorcraft filter which I didn't because I had a bunch of Purolators sitting around. I looked at it and it looked the same as the OEM one. Felt gasket on the bottom, etc... Wasn't sure if this could be the issue though.
I also noticed when I was looking at the left over oil jugs that I have that I might have only put 14 quarts of oil in. Do you think that could cause it just for that one second on startup?
Anyway, tomorrow I'm going to check the oil level and make sure its filled up to where its supposed to be and if this doesn't solve it I might go pickup a OEM filter and swap it in and see if that solves the problem. I'm pretty sure its the factory oil filter cap and such seeing as its got the torque values on it and such.
Hmm, well it seems like the oil filter took care of the issue. Pulled the purolator out and put a Motorcraft one in and what a surprise. Problem is gone. I guess I didn't look at the filters close enough but upon looking closer I realized they are a little different. The purolator had some piece of plastic in the very top that wasn't really noticeable whereas the OEM one didn't.
Anyway, so from now on I'll read up on things here first as it would have saved me a lot of trouble.
