Check Engine Light
My '98 Expedition XLT has 87,000 miles on it. The check engine light just came on. Could this be a maintenance light for the 90,000 mile check? Or do I have something wrong? Everything seems to be running fine.

These lights are notorious for illuminating anywhere between a few thousand miles and higher mileage like in your case. More than likely there is nothing at all wrong with your vehicle. If there was something wrong, you'd probably hear some strange noises or the engine wouldn't run properly. You can disconnect your battery for a few minutes and see if that shuts if off, otherwise you'll have to take it into the shop and have them diagnose. It could be an oxygen sensor, egr, etc.

I just had this fixed the other day. In my case it was a PFE Sensor. It cost me 90.00 dollars to fix. The repair man said it is for emmisions; However, I had my emisions inspection done while the light was on and I passed.
