Did some research and didn't come up with anything on this. On my wifes 03' Aviator the reverse sensors/park assist will start beeping for no reason when backing up. I am trying to figure out how to trouble shoot this. I looked at the parts list and it looks like there is only the 4 sensors and a controller. Is there a way to figure out what the problem is besides taking it to the stealership? I have a basic OBDC reader but there are no codes.
Also is there aftermarket sensors that don't cost $130 each? Links/leads would be great.
Do you happen to have a trailer ball mount in the receiver? I've found that that will cause the backup sensors to trigger.
I also had found that after a rain or washing my 2000 Mountaineer I would get random backup alerts until they dried out. I removed the four sensors, cleaned them up, and used dielectric grease in the connectors then made sure they were seated well. I didn't have problems for the next year and as far as I know they're still working fine (traded it in on my 2004).

No hitch in the receiver. It does it randomly but if I can remember right it does seem to do it more when wet or damp out. I will have to look at cleaning the connectors.
