I have been reading posts on this site for about 3 months now and thought I would share a good experience. I just took delivery of my new F250 6.0L PSD on 2/7. I placed my order on Jan 3 of this year and took delivery in right at 5 weeks. One thing I asked my dealer when I ordered is to make my order part of his monthly allotment order he places for restock. I do not know if this effected the delivery or not but I sure was happy when I got the phone call. Thought I would share this with the group.
glad to hear yuo had a good experience, i think most people do.
i had previously had a good experience ordering (ford explorer), but something unexplainable (or so i am told) happened this last time around.
i will say that it helped you to order after christmas. apparently the factory shuts down for 2 wks for xmas, so if you order b/f, then it can get delayed a little longer than normal. i know mine had a build date of 1/3 which i am sure was in part due to the holiday. i knew this b/f i ordered.
I ordered mine 4 weeks ago today and the dealer does not have a production or delivery date yet. First time ordering from Ford, hope its worth the wait. I am confident about the truck , but not so confident on a reasonable delivery date. I am still keeping an eye on other dealer's lots for one very similar, but none so far. Getting anxious!
Thanks for the tip on the web site. I will check into that! I have read your posts on the delay of your delivery and I am starting to feel that will happen to me as well! Its tough finding one similar on the Ford.com site. I have punched in every zip code in MD and still can't find what I am looking for in a 250 or 350! Frustrating to say the least. I check it almost daily and the stocks of these dealers rarely change. I'll give that site a try, thanks!
for some reason the inventory at my dealer's site was not as up to date as dealerconneciton. i have no idea why. also dlrconn gives you all the local dealers. there were a few i didn;t know existed.
i used to keep tabs on the #of f250s/350, that a few dealers had and when the # of vehicles would change i would re-check the stock for new possible matches!
i guess i needed something to do to pass the time huh?
Passing the time is right!!! I have been doing the same thing. I just checked the Dlrconn site and I found a dealer that I did not know existed and they have a F350 on the lot nearly the same as the one I ordered. It is a CC LB V10 Grn/beige 4X4 Lariat with all the options that I ordered except for the roof lights and camper package. It is only $500 more than my F250. I'll have to let it settle in before making any quick or rash decision.
I might go take a look at it tomorrow, going skiing, tubing today!
what i would would do is call your dealer and start asking (or demanding) some info about the status of your truck. if tehy can't give it to you tell them you may go somewhere else. oh yeah, make sure you can get your deposit back.
then call the other dealer, tell them your situation and see what they can do for you on the price. you might be surprised to see how easy you can get most if not all of that $500 knocked off the price. i had another dealer begging me to buy the other truck.
That truck I found on Dealerconnection.com was sold yesterday. Go figure. But, I got some good news today when my dealer called and advised that the production date ifor my truck is March 1 and delivery should be during the second or third week of March. Hope he is right! I'm glad Feb. is a short month!!!! Only time will tell.
Ordered: F250 CC LB V10 Lariat Grn/beige and most options. 4 weeks and counting......
Well it has been 5 weeks now since ordering and the current rebate runs out in less than a week. It will be interesting to see what happens to them, which goes up and which goes down. I am still searching other dealer lots. I found one today that is an exact match, except it has the 7.3 diesel and it's MSRP is $4,500 more than the order! Thinking of calling them for their best price and see what happens. Wants seem to be beating up the needs, as I sit here waiting for my truck!
with the national consumer confidence rating at a 10 year low, and with the price of gas skyrocketing....i can't imagine that ford would lower its incentives too much (if at all)? i'll keep my fingers crossed for ya!
the reason why i stuck it out was b/c i knew that i would have to drive by the dealers lot once my ordered truck came in and i would have to see it sitting there. i would be kicking myself in the #SS if the in truck i bought instead was not as nice as the one i ordered now sitting on the lot.
We certainly have similar views on this ordering process. I totally agree about having to see the truck you ordered sitting on a lot waiting for somone else! I too would have to drive by my dealer's lot and that would be tough on me as well. What caught my attention with the truck I mentioned in my last post is that it is equipped almost exactly the same. However, going from a V10 to a 7.3 would be a huge difference in the up front price. But, that dealership would have to give me an outstanding deal for me to change course now. But I will give them the opportunity to do that. Its snowing again here and its tough only having one 4X4 in the family!!
I agree with you on the rebates. I would be not only disappointed, but completely surprised if they were reduced. I would not be surprised to see the gas stay the same, the 7.3 go up to $2G and the 6.0 get a rebate, say $1G. They may try to move as much as they can before war breaks out and considering the many problems with the new engine.
Bottom line, I will get an awesome truck no matter which one I end up with! But as you know, the waiting drivers you nuts!! Take care!
I've got a F-250 4x4 5.4L gas on order. Placed the order on Feb 6th, the dealer emailed me shortly after with the build date of Feb 24th. Now I'm waiting for the shipping date. Hopefully I'll have the truck next week or the week after. Anyone know how long after the build date the truck will arive? The dealer said one to two weeks. Any one have other experiences?
mine was more than 6 weeks from build to delivery. i do however question if they built it on the week they said they were going to. but my experience is the exception to the norm. i would say one week is pretty aggressive...but 2 weeks is more probable. i think most dealers tell you 3 wks to cover their as#, but it typically comes during the second week.
remember...many of the f250/350s are now being built in mexico. yes...mexico. unfortunately mine was. if your vin begins w/ 3 then its coming from there, if its a 1 then its coming from kentucky. you can assume that a kentucky truck will get to you sooner.
Well, I was wrong. The rebates stayed the same and have been extended to April 3rd! Oh, well at least they did not reduce them!
Just saw a local dealer advertise an 01' in basically the same configuration (F250 CC LB Lariat Grn/tan tow mirrors etc.) as the one I ordered w/ the 7.3. I may be able to get the truck for about $4G less. If it is in excellent shape, I may consider it. Deep down inside I think I really want a diesel. (Can't afford a new diesel).
But if the truck is not A1, I'll continue to wait on my order!
