[COLOR=black][FONT=Verdana]I found this '65 Slick locally, and it turned out to be as nice as the guy said it was (for once). I couldn't pass it up. I figure it as an upgrade from my '64. Bigger motor and the body is more solid. Truck has 77000 miles showing, and the seat/pedals seem to match that. Came from southern MO, near Arkansas. Cab mounts, floors, corners, core support, bed are all solid with no rust. Engine fires right up even after sitting for the last 10 years. Paint will shine up nicely, judging by wiping it with a sweaty t-shirt.
Any chance I can get some to decode the VIN? F10DK711711

The odometers of trucks of this vintage read to 99,999.9 miles then return to ZERO, so it could have 77,000, 177,000, 277,000 miles, or?
Is there anyway to know what the rear end gear is, or what type of tranny it is (its a 4 spd but the pattern is different fromm my '64)? It looks like a 9" rear under there. The rest of the info from the door tag is as follows:
WB - 129"
Color - W
Body - 281
Trans - N
Axle - 07
As far as the mileage goes, It's in pretty good shape if it's got 177K on it.

129" Wheelbase.
W = Medium Blue
281: 2 = Medium Blue Crush Vinyl & Medium Blue Wicker Pattern Vinyl // 81 = 81A Standard Cab.
N = New Process 435 4 Speed Manual Transmission.
07 = Ford 9" Rear Axle / 3.25-1 / non Limited Slip / 3,300 lb. Rear Axle Capacity.
77,000 miles works out to roughly 1,700 miles a year, so if that's the actual miles, it wasn't driven much.
Your truck has a seat cover on it. Unhook the hog rings, peel the seat cover off on the drivers side, see what the cushion looks like.
Ford used the same pedal pads for over 30 years, are still available, so you cannot judge mileage by pads.
As far as I can tell based on various peices of documenation (title, oil change stickers, inspection stickers), the truck was last tagged in 1991. In 1978 it was due for oil change at 43,000. The title is from 1988 and shows 54,000 miles. Guess there is no way to know if the thing ever turned over.
