Haha, yes I know this. Im talking about the F350 Chasis Cab 2wd diesel. Dana 60 bolts up to that setup correct? The transmission behind the 7.3l IDI will not allow a transfer case to be bolted to it though, right?

So I guess I will be swapping the f100 dash out into the F350 as well as the front clip, and that is the best idea? thats not asking for trouble is it?

You will still have to break out the welder. SASs (solid axle swaps) are never a bolt-in unless you have a 3/4 ton with a TTB and are upgrading to a Dana 60. The biggest problem is that the spring shackles need to be mounted to the frame and you have to mount the panhard bar as well.

You can swap tailshafts in an automatic transmission but you will end up taking a lot of the transmission apart. Another option is to use a divorced t-case if you have the room.

A dash swap is always harder than it looks when you are crossing generations. It's doable but will require a fair amount of custom work.

Yeah I had figured that much about the dash, the dash in the f100 is screwed anyway but I really don't want to just swap the plates because i think it would definetely be cheating. If I did the cab swap I wouldn't feel as bad. I think I need to find a salvage f350 4x4 pick up of a same year folded around a telephone pole and swap the dash for the vin and the front axle out of that.

Edit: course if I did that I would just be ditching the f100

As for a divorced transfer case... I have only seen those on monster trucks. can I pull them off of something out of the Junkyard? course welding is in mind....

The divorced transfer case came in trucks in the 70's.

When this thread started, I thought you had a cherry f100 and wanted to do all this work to it because it was something that deserved it. If it's a piece of junk, there is no use messing with it, doing all that work trying to convert it into something that is very common and already made. Everything you want is already available on a factory pickup and it would be much cheaper and easier just to buy one of those and fix it up rather than trying to scavenge parts from junk ones and build one.

Well the frankenstein project is still alive. Ive just been on a hyatus online but ill give some updates. I procurred a 1990 4.9l and whole efi system for 160 that threw a rod and converted the 1980 4.9 to efi. Got a np435 and np205 out of a 76 350 for $200 and it is installed. Lifted the rear to about 6 inches on blocks (for now) and matched the rear yokes to 1350 style. I also found a solid 44 and matching 9 for $250. Now my issue is I am trying to avoid spending $400 on a custom driveshaft when all of the parts in the truck have cost less than or equal to half of that and the truck was a quarter of it; yes i bought it for $100. Long and short is i am still trying to craigslist the whole thing.

The measurement from t-case yoke to 9 inch yoke is 66 1/2" and as listed before the yokes are spicer 1350 style (3.5"x1 3/16", non flange style). Is there any stock 4x4 truck (with fixed t-case yoke, so slip yoke mid-shaft) that has these specifications. either that or does anyone have one?? Thanks again.
