i'm just wondering what my 302 would be running for horsepower its got:
234 intake,244 exhaust duration at .50" .520 intake and .544 exhaust lift with 114 degree lobe seperation with 11:1 compression and edelbrock heads with 2.05 intake and 1.60 exhaust
any help would be greatly appreciated because right now my truck has no *****
well,,,,,what are you running for an intake, carb, exhaust system, ignition system, tranny, rear end gear, tire height, weight of vehicle, air filter, fuel type, and, intended vehilce usage? Do you actually have Edelbrock Victor jr. heads, with the 2.05 intake valves, on this engine? The largest practical head I would have ever thought of running on a 302 would be the performer RPM with the 2.02 valves. The cam sounds perfect, just the supporting cast is off kilter. The victor jr. heads are needing the engine to spin to close to 4000 rpm before making any power. And what are you using for pistons to get 11:1 compression, flat tops and 60cc chambers might get you 10:1, max, provided you mill the head a bit. Not getting touchy, something sounds fishy here....
It just proves that you have pick components that match. Large intake runner heads and a dual plane intake with a restrictive exhaust will not be a good running combo. Also, if you have stock stall speed in your converter and low numeric gear ratio, that motor will bogg down hard, and it probably won't ever get into the range where that cam and those heads are designed to work. Listen to 'Moose, you have to make sure that all of your components are designed to work with each other. TK
