i want to lock my 8.8 rear. not sure what locker would be the best choice. what do you guys recommend and what does each one do? any help would be great. thanks again
I have the Aussie. It was cheap, simple to install, and rugged. Best bang for the buck. I will say that the street manners are a little agressive at times but what do you want for $260.
awesome thanks guys. looks like that will be the way i go.
now one other question (sorry still learning) how do i know if i have the open diff rear? it says thy wont work with a limited slip rear.
For the street the factory Trac-Loc with a clutch restack is probably the best option, smooth operation and good 2-wheel traction when you need it.
For occasional offroad use consider something like a Powertrax Lock-Right, it's easy to install in a stock open carrier and provides true axle locking, but it can be clunky on the street. Another option is the Detroit True-trac which is an all gear driven posi, it's not a locker but it's smooth and delivers TQ to the wheel with grip.
For serious offroad you want Detrot Locker, ARB air locker, or the new Eaton E-locker, all are expensive but provide the most traction possible and are bulletproof.
look at the axle codes on the door post, that will tell if its a LS or not... I dont remember off had what all the codes mean....
Also, with my Aussie locker, I didnt notice much difference on the street than the open diff, just can hear it "click" a bit on corners(normal) and i can slide around nice when streets are wet
