I need a new thermostat. I need one to open sooner than what I have. What do you guy's recommend? And who carries it? It gets hot here in So.Cal.
46yblock will be sending me one. We'll see what happens when I install it. At the same time I'll be pullung the radiator out and getting it cleaned and possibly add another row if possible. I hope with all the new stuff I'll stay as cool as my truck looks. (hahaha had to throw that in) I thank you guys for your response and especially 46yblock for your help.
If it's not boiling over, it's not getting too hot. Is it boiling over?
I run a 180 degree thermostat here in Atlanta all year 'round.
I'd also resist doing more than one change at once. If your radiator is at fault, then it won't matter how low a thermostat you run, it's going to get hot. I realize that the thermostat change is not that big a job, but if cleaning the radiator cures it, it's just that much less work you have to do.
Another thing you need to consider is when does it get hot. All the time, only at idle, only when cruising, etc.; it may not be a radiator or thermostat problem.
