Ok I recently acquired a 1979 f250 4x4 with a 351m. I have yet to see the truck. A mechanic said that he started the truck and that it is not worth it because it has a knock? What could I do about this? Should I no longer get the truck? I need advice quickly as I am supposed to get the truck tommorrow.
Screamin T/A, The 400 is a direct bolt in. You can use all the hardware from the 351M, unless you can find one directly from a 4x4 truck. You can find the 400's in old Lincolns, Merc's, big Fords.
A total rebuild cost would very with what you want to do.
HAHAHA it was all a big joke. It seems that my dad and mechanic played a big joke on me. They got the truck and were incredibly surprised at how well it actually ran. So they figured lets bust ***** you know. So i go to see the truck and ask him to start and my mechanic says you sure?? and I go yeah dont worry so the thing started and it runs perfectly!!! Its quieter than most new cars!!!! (not for long hehe ) But now I'm happy and cant wait to get it on the road next month. Not bad at all for pretty much free haha. Oh yeah by the way the truck has a plow on it but I have to take that off. IF the plow came from the factory does that mean it has a DANA 60 front axle? Also does it have limited slip diffs?? thanks
