Door Handles

I have 2008 psd sd cc. The door handles on the back doors are loose and appear to have popped out on the lower side. It looks like it has pins that are too short. Is this common? Any one have any experience with this? I tried a search. Thanks.

Photos would do wonders. I don't understand too short of pins. The handles are snapped into the metal, so if they were removed at one point perhaps someone broke the clips that hold it in.
