Does the 1995 Ford Explorer have the ability to connect an OBD-2 tool to pull codes and other information? I am a bit confused in that some information I have seen says yes and other says no, that the 1995 Ford Explorer requires a different tool (not OBD-2 compatibale) to pull the codes.

1995 was when a lot of vehicles went from EEC IV (OBD1) to EEC V (OBD2). I believe a 95 Explorer is still OBD1 and will require a different scanner than a newer Explorer. On the engine emissions decal on the rad support it will tell you if it is OBD1 or 2. The self test connectors are different. OBD2 had the connector under the dash but even if your Explorer has OBD1 it will still have the same test connector but it is only used for testing GEM etc on the vehicle. If it is OBD1 it will have a test connector under the hood. You can check OBD1 systems for codes with nothing more than a jumper wire. There are instructions for this in many posts here.
