6 months and counting......
I've primarily waited till the '11 MY for the new engines. I typically hang on to a vehicle for 10+ years. Depreciation means nothing to me.
I'm a pretty plain guy and I'm certainly no techno - whiz. So, here's what I'm looking at for a truck.
XLT 4x4 Scab. 5.0L V-8 with the 3.73 LS or locker if available, Max tow package, man step, bed steps, cab steps (for my wife), dark cloth interior, Tuxedo Black or Pearl Blue and the standard 17" wheels. Nothing real fancy but something that's pretty nice. Next year I'll be 50. It'll be a nice B-day present to me.
I just bought my daughter a 2010 Focus. I need to keep this fairly affordable or momma will get into my a$$.

Alright guys, what am I missing?
Other than that I had that the nav would be nice, but I hear you can't do anything with it while on the move so not so sure about that now.
Below are just suggestions/questions (not sure if they are standard or even available in the XLT).
Fog lights?
Captain's chairs?
Flow-through console?
PICKUP BED EXTENDER?
36 GALLON FUEL TANK
TRAILER BRAKE CONTROLLER
When you keep your vehicles as long as we do (I had my last one for 12 years), ain't it fun decking out a new truck?

FYI at this time you can only get the dark cloth in the FX4 or STX. You may want to consider those trims. The XLT only has that light grey or "camel" color interior, which I dont care for.
- Cargo roller bed (pulled from previous truck)
- High-rise bed cap
- Grille bars + winch
- side nerf bars vice steps
- rust-protection underneath (many a coin flip on this, I decided it's worth it to me).
Mind, I'll be in the bush a lot so I have need for some of these, you may not.
I just had a pro polish and hand-wax carried out. Nice job. It's now up to me to keep it that way.
note - if you want a roller-bed ( I can't live without one now) a bed liner is a bad idea (and you won't need it). You can't mount the roller-bed on it properly. Also, the tail-gate step assist handle is too high to roll the bed out unless you install 3" spacers underneath it at all mounting points (besides, you won't need it, or the bed side-steps - total cost is about the same as all those steps, heh).
edit - just wanted to mention, since you are planning on a 4x4 you probably are going to want the max tow package (many benefits). Especially if you plan on towing a boat or sled trailer (I do both).
