Pat........I think you may approve, and if I happen to swing through your parts, i'll be sure to stop in so you can take a gander for yourself, in fact, wife and I are planning to visit my brother in Elkhorn, WI in the spring......haven't see him since he lost his son to cancer in March.
Neil, I was waiting for you to spark up on this........seriously.
I wish I could be a firefighter man, I love the big trucks, I had an old federal "Q" siren in my garage for a while, was gonna put it on my truck, but it went missing when a former friend moved out.
Are you an actual Fire Fighter? or just appreciate what they do?
I have been a volley (volunteer) for the last 18 years and currently I am the chief of my department. Had been chief before along with being an assistant, captain and a lt. I still get the rush when the tones drop no matter what time of the day or night. I have had many training classes above the requirement for the department ranging from auto extrication to hazardous materials to structural collapse to swift water rescue..... I think that you are getting the point.
You are also correct. The mechanical Q sirens are very loud . We do not have any on our current trucks because they are expensive to purchase (around $3k I believe)
Nice Drew! I would love to add those to my diesel for that added MOVE out of the way sound hehe.
Trust me Scott, the do 'grab' attention from people on the road. When I drive the one truck that has them on it to a call, I will turn the siren on before pulling out of the hall and then wail the crap out of the air horns. I really wakes people up

First of all Neil, I salute you guys, you guys do NOT get the respect or appreciation you DESERVE.
what people don't notice is one thing, Cops lose 2/3 less men than firefighters..........you guys take a bigger risk than any cop, with a larger risk to life.
Thank you.
Not trying to be cheesy, but I admire firefighters.
Thanks for your support and respect. I will tell you that most of the guys that are in the area (my county has 29 departments that cover about 600 sq. miles) are not in it for the glory. We do it to make our communities a better place to live.

for a VERY good example, I'm driving my wife's little shadow to a jobsite, and i'm 3rd in the line for a turn, we got a green arrow, the guy in front just sat there with his thumb up his ****, I hit my horn, and waited guy in front of me hit his horn, the arrow turned orange, guy in front of me decided to up the anty, and tapped his airhorns (trucker style) and the guy in front jolted real quick, so the guy LAYS on his horn, dumbarse FINALLY got the clue and bailed
talked to the guy with the airhorns, he said people like that are exactly why he got them.........people cut me off all the time, thats why I want them, I can't stop THAT quick

I know a kid in town that has them
was chatting with him on the CB last month, and he was bragging about them, he was at the highest point of town (storey blvd) and pulled into a turnoff they install to overlook the town, and he hit the horns, I'm over by linconlway in front of my office.......and heard them SOBs loud and clear.
and that's a 3 mile straight shot from where I was.

Well Neil, the wig wag does get their attention too but I think the horns would get immediate action hehe.
