On my 65 style side I need new rims as one is cracked. I bought some used 15 x 10s and am having an issue up front with the 195 s they have on them.i havent even put them on the back yet. Can these trucks use 10 inch wide rime with no clearance issues? Is so, what the narrowest tire I can go safely with these rims??
LOL...no...you got clearance issues...brake hose for one...steering drag link/tie rod for another....and the rear...LOL...on my 3/4 ton...my wheels just sqeak into the area between the hub and bed...maybe 1/4-1/2" clearance...and thats being genererous......but the front will be your bigger trouble area...as i mentioned prior...biggest wheels you can stuff under there...that I dunno as I run the same size ford designed my truck for...the other thing...why on earth would you want super wide meats when you have Armstrong steering??
I didn't realize how wide they were when I bought them. I just want to get this truck on the road as it runs incredibly. I just can't roll it because of constant wheel and tire issues. I don't want wide rims like that but I'm having a heck of a time finding rims that will work for this truck, look period appropriate, and not cost more than I paid for the thing which is not much.
Camper do you think factory steel wheels off a 95 f150 will work? I just found some for 100 bucks. I'm not thrilled about how they might look on the truck though.

Bolt right on, and are either 6" or 7" wide.
5 lug, 5.50" bolt circle pattern: 1948/52 F1 / 1953/79 F100 / 1975/96 F150 / Some 1980/83 F100's.
1977 was the first year Ford offered styled steel and styled aluminum wheels for F100/150's, similar types were used thru 1996.
These will bolt right on (are either 7" or 8" wide)...as long as they have the 5.50" pattern. Some 1980/83 F100's have 5 lug 4.50" bolt circle pattern.
1977/96 Econoline E100/150's offered the same wheels as did 1978/96 Bronco's...same 5 lug 5.50" pattern.

If they happen to be the chrome factory wheels they were 7.5 in wide which would be a good size for ya.
Through a strange twist of luck and fate I found a guy on craigslist here in Atlanta that was looking for rims for his 64 f100. As the ad was old I called him to ask if he found rims and if more than one person contacted him and he said yes to both questions. He was going to email the guys contact info to me when it dawned on me that this guy probably was replacing some rims. It turns out he has the same aluminum type rims that I have on my truck so I can grab them from him and not have to buy more rims. He also has many more ford parts so I'll see what he has and post here to let anyone know if younwant.
hmm ever notice that some ford vehicles have a 114.3mm bolt pattern? 114.3mm converts to 4.5", nothing else swaps over though. Just some food for thought.
i fely like quoting this because you are right. and the type of drivetrain exmple- 2x4 2x4 prerunner, and a 4x4. on our 65' we have 13.50" wide hehe. no rubbing what so ever. but on the side of the wheelwell there's only about a inch when the rear is only about 1/2 way down. its funny seeing those big wheels stuffed into that little hole (35x13.50x15's)
