Engine torque specs

Great post Brickie, that will be a big help to all. This should be paoted on the tech folder for the DIY guys. Thanks to your help in getting mine printed. Question here. How do they come up with these specs. I know some bolts can only be torqued to certain tightness. Tights tight and brokes broke. That was the motto when wrenching on all of our old 4x4s in the garage well except for engines I gues. But how did they come up with 60 ft lbs instead of 55 or 65. Did thay try them at all of these different specs and see what leaked andor broke. I know its kind of a stupid question but its Sunday and sitting here watching the race and have lots of time to think about unimportant things. Dam I love this site.

Yes Mark,Not sure if 06 is also 05 -07 but figured that it is worth while to post what I found.
