2000 Ford F150 won't start
I have a 2000 Ford F150 that doesn't seem to wanna turn over. It is a basic model truck with manual everything and non tilt. The ignition was getting jammed from time to time. I put the key in the ignition and I turned the ignition with a pair of channel locks and it broke free and everything seems to work except when I turn the key, it won't crank over but the lights on the dash light up like when it does crank. I can have the key forward and bypass the solenoid on the firewall and it will start just fine. Anyone has any idea what could be the problem?

omg let me put this in simple terms... Ignition switch to solenoid to starter whats in between the ignition switch and the starter.. the solenoid its bad on the ignition switch side. Just try it if it dosent work take it back to where you bught it they will give you your money back and you will use 10 min of your time. Always start with the most simple and cheapest thing first. Your welcome in advance

im not going to argue with you over this, you asked for help and im giving you a solution. my truck did the same thing if you cant at least try what im suggesting then take it to a dealer. only other thing i can think of is the igniton switch either ones is rather cheap to fix. good luck.

Blitz......I am a little confused myself.you were suggesting that the starter solenoid is bad. the starter solenoid is the small thing attached to the starter. that is working fine. You might be suggesting the solenoid/relay on the fender well. it could be the fender solenoid or some other element that is part of the "starter control circuit"....these include neutral safety switch, ignition switch, etc. the Op should continue with the multimeter and see where the power stops.....a haynes clinton manual would have a wiring diagram and should be able to help you.....
I also would fix whatever the key/cylinder issue is it could be that..

It is standard and I don't think the clutch interlock switch is the problem. I was maybe thinking the key cylinder since is was getting jammed but I was wondering if there was like something thats between the key cylinder and the ignition harness that like engages the starter. It can't be the starter relay/solenoid since I don't seem to have a signal come out of the ignition harness which I guess goes to the starter relay/solenoid. It does have a chip in the key but I do think I broke something inside of the column when I broke it loose when it was jammed. I do not think the key cylinder could be messed up because I say its mostly all mechanical but I could be wrong.
