Yeah, the diesel tech I know explained to me:
On the left where you see the little braided hose is the EGR cooler unit. It is a modular thing that can be unbolted and removed once those coolant hoses are out of the way.
Also, the intercooler for the turbo is water chilled, just a little box by the right side battery.
Turbo is in the back/middle and can be uncovered and removed.
There is a LOT of stuff on top of the engine, placed there to make it accessible, hoses/valves/sensors/cable things that are easily removed to get under to the main engine components.
