First post. Sorry if this has been covered. I couldn't find the answer in the search section.
I want to do the SuperChips thing and exhaust upgrade on my 97PSD. I have seen a couple different routes to go with the stock transmission. One forum member says not to go with the B & M reprogramer because it is too harsh. I am inclined to agree. Another company shows a new line solenoid inside the trans for $250 to improve the shifting. (Level 10 transmissions) which I assume would work with the stock programming. They also have an upgraded valve body. I have three questions:
1.) Can the Superchips tuner change just the ECM and not change the trans program if desired?
2.) Has anyone tried the internal mods proferred by Level 10?
3.) Which route would you take; stock internals with software reprogram or upgrade internals with stock programming?
I do mostly highway driving with very little towing, fluid changes every 30k miles.

I have a Banks transcommand module and love what it did to my E40D in my 97 F250. I have a stage 2 B&M kit in my C4 ranger and it is HARSH, I like it for wheelin my ranger but not my daily driven F250. Give them a look. www.bankspower.com.
