If you have buffer or can borrow one, use a product with some light cut and a good foam pad. You'll get great results. Check out autogeek. Tons of info.

I assume you mean a DA. With practice, the correct product and pads, DAs are great for polishing, applying, and removing wax.
However, claybar and paint correction are two different steps of the detailing process.
First, claybar or acid neutralization to remove embedded impurities. Then polish for scratch and swirl removal. A claybar will not remove light scratches or swirls.
Polishing first will simply grind the impurities into the clear coat.
Meguiars clay bar kit works great ! It comes with 2 bars, detailer, and a nice sized microfiber towel, and a small bottle of cleaner wax. After washing and drying your truck spray the detailer on the clay and also on the paint. The more you move the clay the easier it will get to move it. Then remove the left over spray detailer with the towel. It's actually pretty simple. I did my truck a few weeks ago in about 30 minutes. This video is a good tutorial as well !
C'mon don't be like that! I said "please". You can't go back and read that first post and honestly tell me you're not in agreement? You're not "texting", you're typing. Please. Plus, I apologized in advance. We do care, honestly. I care, or I wouldn't have asked nicely.
Your correct shotgunz. I was looking at the truck is only 7 months old. Paint should be in good shape.
How old the truck really doesn't determine the shape of the paint. Since alot of trucks are shipped via rail, they get alot of rail dust. Any vehicles that sit outside in heavy industrial areas is prone to all other kinds of contamination. One summer trip can throw all kinds of tar, bug grime and the likes and best way to remove it clay bar.
Take a piece of saran wrap, lay it on truck. Take your point finger and lightly pass over the saran wrap. If truck is in bad shape, you should be able to feel some bumps. If nothing else do this test before/after on just a single panel. I claybar before I even bother getting my polishes/sealants/glazes/waxes out.

Ford/GM/Chrysler/MB/Porsche all have service directives that specifically refer to paint correction/contamination procedures and clay bar is not a referred procedure and specifically identified as a method which only removes the surface level paint contaminants and as such, the "root' of the contaminant remains continues to destroy the paint from underneath the surface layer of the paint.
Just remember, Mequire's clay bar is rated at approximately 3500 grit. There much better clay bar products out there rated at much finer grits (typically 5000)- so if you are comfortable and believe your paint needs to be wet-sanded, and that is the only and safest way to correct the flaw/issue, then do so but remember, for 90% for all paint contamination issues there are products designed to relieve/remove/neutralize the contaminants without reducing the mil thickness of the clear coat
These procedures date back to 1990 and are still published in current oem paint maintenance publications/service manuals. I would be more than happy to e-mail you a copy of the specific section of the OEM service manual- from 1997 & the newest one I have immediate access to is 2006 (but you can go to helms.com and for $10 download view the OEM service/workshop manual
for your vehicle.
BTW, I have to chuckle at the video- when the gent from Meg's is referring to "bumps" (ie paint contamination)---- that is typically failure of the dealer to properly clean cosmoline and industrial fallout from the vehicle. IT IS 99% of the time never an indication that claybar should be used on the paint! and for those may may ask...I would love to go face to face with any Meg's rep with regards to it's (clay bar) effectiveness in removing industrial fallout and similiar type environmental contaminents from paint- both the oem's, major paint MFG have published documents on the effectiveness and downfalls of claybar in general- yes there is a use & purpose for it...but removing industrial fallout and similar type effect environmental contaminents....no way!
