Just got everything new for my ignition system with msd wires, cap, rotor, coil and even got a 6al ignition box. I bought new spark plugs today as well, when I go to tackel this I want to bump my timing too.
My question is what should my gap be with increased timing?
Increased timing alone is no reason to open the plug gap more. With a hotter coil the gap can be widened to take advantage of the higher output of the coil. Over on the Fullsize Bronco forums they have been doing the "sixlitre" tune up for quite some time. The plug gap is opened up to .055". I have the same type setup as you except for the ignition box and run a .055" plug gap on my '92 5.8L equipped F350. It works very well. Picked up little MPGs...
Sweet that's what I was looking for! I remember hearing there was some reason to gap it more in one of the pedormance threads. The ignition box is a nice upgrade as well my spark is very blue now since the upgrade and the 2 step sounds cool to after I get these plugs in I'll fill up and hand calculate if I pick up any mpgs I was f
