transmission help?!?
I have a 2001 f-250, 7.3 l powerstroke diesel with 210k miles. My truck is having trouble shifting from 1st to snd(automatic tranny). I have to get the rpms up to 2800 and then let it drop to 1000 then accelerate again to get it to shift out of first. After that it runs fine and shifts through all the gears fine. Any ideas? one shop said it is electronic and another told me i needed a new tranny.

Can you shift it manualy from 1st to 2nd without problems? We had someone in the 7.3 forum that had this problem and it turned out to be his alternator was bad and messing up some sensors that tells the trans to shift. You may also have the dreaded Diode in the trans that most of the '01 trucks have.
Come down to the 7.3 forum and ask this question there.
