hi all!

having problems with my 1997 E-350, with V10 it needs a new alternator and was wondering if anyone has used these :

Find Your Alternator At Alternator Pros
they offer a rebuilt 200amp for $235, shipped next day. let me know if you have had any experience with them or if you have another suggestion.

thanks for your help!

i think you pays yer money and you takes yer chances. when it comes to rebuilders, some people will have excellent luck with a rebuilder while others will have nothing but problems with the same guy. i looked at their site. price is good and the alternator all the high output parts have been around a while, so it's not like the alt will be "unique". i run a pair of 200A alt's in my '95 and have had no issues with them.

my 2 cents? i would order one up and examine it closely. if it looks all good, stuff it in and fire it up.

consider upgrading the 12v cable from the alt to where ever it goes - you can just parallel another cable and make sure you have appropriate sized ground cables from eng to chassis and to the battery. if the van is stock, you will probably be fine as it is (i would do the pos cable upgrade) and the alt should last a long time as it will be understressed.

generally speaking the regulator fails or the brushes wear out on these alts. you can buy a replacement reg w/ brushes for ~$40 and pop it in and the alt will go right back to working.

thanks for the info I think I will just end up going with local supplier, less chance of problems, and if there is problems it is easily taken care of. I might buy the replacement brushes and regulator.

thanks again!

My rebuilt alternator, done by a shop close by was upgraded for higher amperage, serving me now, and has been for 8 years, you need a quality shop that has been in business a while, was less than a parts store replacement.
