2000 EXpy Coolant Smell
Towed my travel trailer this week with my 2000 5.4 expy. It was about a 2 hour trip both ways. Every so often I could smell a hot coolant smell. It would last for only about a minute then go away. It did this couple times both going to the lake and coming home. Temperature gauge showed normal. 135k miles.
Could it be the heater core?

Ok it's the heater core. Is the extra $18 dollars worth it for the brass core? Just thinking since it already has 135K on it and the first one lasted that long I think. We got the vehicle used with 65K on it.

Yes. I've read somewhere on here that the brass one is the one you want. For $18 and the pain that it is to change it, I'd spend the money without thinking.
