Sweet Thanks. Reps! And are you sure these directions will work for my E99? The very first step says "for the 2003 and later......"
The complete sentence reads: "On 2003 and later model trucks you must first remove the factory grab handle."
Prior to 2003, there was no grab handle on the driver's side, just the passenger side. So you are good to follow them no matter if you have the e99 or not.
Haha gotcha. Wow. I'm tired. Thats what I get for "skimming" when I read. Thanks again for the write up. Now how much are these and the pillar mount going to cost? and that looks like a pretty intense process. I will most likely do them myself now but how much do you think i would spend if i had someone install for me?
If you get the pillar pre-wired with the gauges and painted you can save yourself a couple of hours prior to digging into your truck. Expect about three hours by yourself from the time you start on just installing on the truck and that's taking your time - not to mention looking for the wire cutters, extra electrical connectors you drop on the ground, sipping a beverage or three... It's not that hard, just make sure your back is in good shape because you need to do some crawling around under the dash and under the truck.
Ya I think I'll go that route. And I am in good shape and will definitely be consuming some tasty beverages throughout the process. Silver bullets as a matter of fact ha. I'm looking forward to getting these all set up. How much did it cost you all together?
If your doing gauges, it is also a great time to delete the AIH and get one of Clays AIH delete plugs that is pretapped for your boost gauge, nice clean install.
I have installed a set of these for a friend recently, and they seem to be pretty decent for the money, think a few others have installed these here as well. The ISSPro are really nice, but more money, guess its a budget option.
My bad on the AIH, the 3 trucks i do all my wrenching on are all late 99 and 2001. As far as the gauges, they are really nice, work well. The unknown i guess is longevity. ISSPRO will be there for the long haul i am certain. The glowshift folks have good support, but how long they are going to be in business is I can't say. At this point, with older trucks. I guess its a fair bet, but its a decision we all have to weigh i guess.
I dont have the AIH ?! oh wow. Now I feel dumb. I didn't even look before I ordered the AIH Delete Plug. Do you think that I can get refunded from Clay for the plug? Or even store credit? Because there are plenty of things on his site that I want ha.
And thanks for the offer chase. I might just hit you up on that. What part of WA you livin in? I'm headed back to WA in December but I doubt I can wait until then to get guages.
Tom, how long have you had them? And if they have good support for now I'm thinking about getting them. I mean $200 bucks with the Pillar mount is a steal. And it sure beats paying hundreds and hundreds just for the guages themselves. Can you post a pic of yours?
The gauges are in my buddies late 99 truck, I put them in back in March. He is puking oil and will be over this weekend to fix that, so I can get some pictures then. So far, so good on them. will do a quick search when I get back(off to meeting), i believe there are half a dozen other guys here running these gauges as well. If they have had them longer, that might be a good indicator as well. The only thing i found on the install was the power leads were to short, had to splice some wire in, otherwise, same as any other gauges for install.
here is what I have had in my truck since May, and I am happy with it other than a little bit of glare issues at sunrise/sunset. Still have my old set of ISSPRO's I bought used, haven't decided if i am going back to them or staying this way yet. readings were identical, so I know the glow shift are accurate out of the box at least. My only real question on them is longevity of both the gauges and the company.
Oh wow. Haven't seen the 3 in 1's before. And getting a pic would be awesome! thanks. So I like the bright blue or white or blueish white for backlighting. The only issue is that all of my spedometer and other guages in my truck are stock green back lighting. Is there any way that doesn't cost a furtune to change the color in my truck so that I can get gauges to match if I decide to get blue? Maybe I'll just get the green to match the stock lighting. Who knows......
