its got the 2.9 in it and it started out when i start it in the moning it will die unless u give it gas.and also after 20 mins of driving it starts to miss and dont go faster then 55.so i chang the plugs and wires knowin theyre old now it starts missing instantly and barely has power to get through a yellow light. is it the ignition module or tfi going bad or what or the cat converter
Maybe TFI. When my TFI acted up, I would pull codes and get CM 14 and/or CM 18. Others report no codes when their TFI acts. If I suspected the TFI module, the first thing I'd do would be to pull codes.
Could be cat converter. I would suspect if the cat was bad enough to cause such poor running, it would show up on a vacuum gauge. First thing I'd do if I suspected a bad cat would be to put a vacuum gauge on it and see if there was anything to learn.
I might also suspect a fuel problem. Pull the vacuum line to the FPR and check for gas (gas = bad FPR). Then put a fuel pressure gauge on the fuel rail and see if fuel delivery is up to spec (~40 psi).
ok this is a dumb i dont know much about efi how do u check the codes and i dont know why it got worse after the tune up i also put some fuel injection cleaner in it. thanks for the reply
For instructions on checking codes, put "ford EEC-IV self-test" into your favorite search engine. There are a lot of sites out there with instructions (some easier than others to follow). Any self-respecting repair manual should also have instructions.
