Putting infrared DVD player into early 03 without infrared

My dvd has a 12 pin connector and the infrared dvd from a 2005 has a 20 pin connector. Anyone know what the other 8 wires are for? I'm speculating they drive the IR emmiters for the headphones.

Just to let you know because I just found this out. There is a audio and video forum on this site. I posted a dvd question in the expy forum and someone said that I would probably have better luck getting an answer in teh A/V forum. Just letting you know.

After 3 hours of intense internet searching, I think I have it figured out. Some of the info did come from our A/V forum. Gotta call the guy tomorrow and see if he still has the dvd player. With any luck, I'll exit the weekend with a working IR dvd player.
