3 inch pump for veggie collection?
I bought a 3 inch water pump from my boss at the shop real cheap. It even runs but It's old. It's a 5 horse Briggs with a 3 in water pump on the back. The outlet was already necked down to 1.5 in, and the intake was neck down to 2 in. I'm thinking about knocking the intake down to 1.5 in, and just running it like it is. I'd rather have a 2 inch pump but, maybe keep the RPMs low? My question is, do y'all think it's too big for collecting 55 gallon barrels? Or can I get by running at lower RPM? I got a good deal on this. I didn't realize it was 3-in pump. I thought it was a 2 inch pump which is why I got it. Now I realize it's bigger. Should I put it up for trade for smaller or for sale? Thoughts?
