Looking for an Expy

Hey guys, I hang out in the Super Duty forum/Diesel forum but I'm in the market for an Expedition for a second vehicle. I'm looking in the '04 to '06 or maybe '07 range if the price is right. I'll be honest, I don't know a whole lot about the Expedition other than we drove one last week and loved it (the fact that it was an '08 with all the bells and whistles probably helped!). Nor do I know much about the 5.4 in that model year range. What would you guys suggest looking for or avoiding when looking? I know there were issues with spark plugs spitting out, but that's all I know. How about transmissions, etc?

Thanks for any and all help.

The Expedition seems to share all of the good and the irritating qualities you have in the SDs. I suggest that you find the one your wife likes and if it's a low miles, well maintained truck the seller should have all of the service records to go with it.
Good luck with your new truck.

Thanks, we are out there actively looking, but man, there are a lot for sale but with a ton of miles! What's a reasonable guess on how many miles these engines go? I plan on keeping this truck for a long time, so I want to keep it fairly low mileage.

I own one with the 2V motor as well as one with the 3V motor. You should look for a 2005-up as this was the first year of the 3V in the Expy.

There was one here that had over 400,000 miles on it when the rear end went bad and they traded it in. I was a family owned contract delivery vehicle, I think.
