plug up the dipstick
The block I am about to drop in my truck has a dipstick port as well as the original rear sump pan that I'm using for reassembly. I will be using the dipstick off the pan, question is what's the best way to plug the dipstick port that comes off the block? Thanks.

So did I. I should have used a tapered plug (pipe thread) but merely used a regular bolt and tapped for it. I also coated the bolt threads with sealer.
