DPF Question
I have two questions. The second all depends on the answer to the first so I'll hold back on asking it.
1. How does the truck know to go through a regen? Some guys get different distances between regens so it must be some variable instead of a set amount of miles. So what tells the truck to start wasting my fuel?

2. If the restriction is picked up by the sensors, why does one really need a programmer for a DPF delete? I see the DPF delete pipes have ports for these sensors but if the DPF is gone, so are the restrictions. In theory, if there are no restrictions like a sooted up DPF, the truck "should" never go into regen. What am I missing here?

Correct, if the system doesn't call for a regeneration because of back pressure, after a period of time or miles the computer will initiate one anyway. The regeneration will not shut off untill exhaust sensors determine a certain heat level has been obtained which will never occur if the DPF is gone.
The bottomline is, if you remove the DPF without shutting off the regens with a programmer, it may run fine for awhile but eventually you will enter "regeneration hell"
