My 73 SCS AC has never worked for more than a week at a time. The blower motor always blows the fuse when the fan is turned on for any function.I am looking to find out if someone makes an aftermarket AC,heat and defrost unit that takes the place of all the stock junk that does not work.I am starting a long term project to restore this truck and use it for towing a trailer for recreation.I would like to be able to rely on the defrost, heat and AC as I will spend a lot of time driving this truck.Any suggestions as to a fix for the old stuff or a replacement for the old stuff will be appreciated.

73-79 models don't have a Heat/ AC/ Defrost system available.
Just aftermarket in dash AC.
The SCS system must have a leak, it should be fixed.
The electrical, Does it use a 9 bladed blower switch?
New switches are still available it it is bad.
The blower motor properly grounded? That can cause a heavy current draw.
Nicked or bare wire?
You can wire in a relay to take the Compressor clutch load off the blower circuit. Very easy remedy.
That old of a system will have push-on hose clamp fittings on the Compressor, condenser, drier. That can be remedied with a new parallel flow condenser, new drier and new compressor fittings or update the compressor to a Sanden. Bought4Less, Cruise Control, Auto AC Kits can help
