2wd + front swaybar + four shocks? I'm asking this because I have a diesel 1-ton with a very heavy front bumper, and while the springs handle everything just fine the shocks could use some help, so if the factory ever offered a 4-shock option the brackets for which do not interfere with the swaybar that would be very nice
I didn't see it mentioned if your F350 is 2wd or 4wd. I have never seen a 2wd with the quad front shocks. That doesn't mean you can't use the parts from a salvage yard truck to do it though.
Yes my 1-ton is 2wd, hence why I was asking about 2wd trucks - I know the front pair of shocks on the quad-shock 4x4 halftons uses brackets that bolt up to the bottom spring buckets, but that's where my sway bar attaches too, so I don't know if they would play nice with each other. On the other hand just looking at it now it seems that I may be able to bolt the bottom end of the new shocks right to the side of the swaybar brackets using longer bolts for the swaybar links, then I'll just need the towers from a quad-shock trucks to make it all work - any thoughts on that idea?
Sounds like maybe you need some different shocks. The quad shock was supposed to aid in handling to help with the heavier 4x4 axle. They actually hold the tire from falling back down more than going up. Maybe you just need a set of shocks with a firmer rate.
I got the commercial-grade LTVs by Gabriel which are supposed to be pretty heavy-valved, but then again my truck does weigh over 8k... And the geometry looks like it will be just fine, from the inboard side of the swaybar brackets it's a direct straight shot up to where the shock meets the tower on the quad-shock setups, which will put the front shocks right parallel to the factory ones.
