BURN OUT

Has anyone be able to do a burnout with there EXPY ?

I have tired and tired again and I cannot spin the wheels in the rear. I have taken the third seats out.

Does it have to due with the torque conv ?

I have a 99 5.4 custom dual exhaust and K&N. and still no burnout.

The 99 expy doe have 260hp correct ?

I am researching for a DIABLO CHIP.

I am wondering will this help me achieve a burnout ?

Please shed some light on this.

I don't think you can go a burnout on a '99 Expy unless you had maybe double the power from stock, atleast on the 4x4. Reason I say this is because on '99 you have awd. This make it so you can't even power brake the thing.

BURN OUT

The above post is correct. Every 99' Expi that I have seen came through with auto four wheel drive. Every time you try to break traction with the rear wheels, the front axel drive train will automatically kick in.
Try spinning the wheels on an asphalt driveway with blacktop sealer on it during a rainy day. Once the rear wheels spin, you will feel the fronts enguage. Jake.

Hey Mike you are really helpfull !
I wanted an expert advice, not a wise crack

I guess I will just stick with my PORSCHE for burn outs.

I am waiting for the WHIPPLE supercharger for my truck.

PS Mike I do not like the Lighting that is not a suv !

I am not sure about disconnecting or shutting down the auto 4 wheel drive. Never really thought about it. I'm sure that you could physically do it on the drive train.
The older Expi's had a 2wd position on the selector control ****. You may be able to see how one is set up and copy the setup on your Expi. It could be a bit of a PITA and possibly costly also. Just a thought. Good luck. Jake.

Why would you want to do a burnout in an almost 6000lb SUV? Wait, don't answer that. Ok, yes, I've done it. Why would I ever want to do a burnout in an almost 6000lb SUV? Don't have a good answer.

Never really thoguht about it, then one day I tried and viola. The best (I've only attempted in 2-3 times) was about 4 feet and I have LS rear too!

Now, that wasn't on a good concrete road, the road surface was a pretty new asphalt, but no loose dirt, gravel etc. On good new concrete, no go, just a hard launch!

You can see my sig for mods. It's a super clean stock looking Expy, just with a few key bolts-ons. But it's so much funner to drive!

BURN OUT

Hey Familyman welcome to this site.
The problem with Expy is that I am 4x4 and I cannot lock the front wheels, because on the 99 Expy they have that stupid AWD4.
You are a 4x2 that is why you can do a burnout.
I am going to put a Supercharger in the near future Kenne Bell or Whipple ?
Please tell me about those IAS Edlebrock Shock you have.
Did you install them yourself ? and how much did you pay for them ?
I just install EURO rear tail lights on the truck. I am the first to have them installed in the NJ area.

I am glad to see that I am not they only one that likes to do a burnout on a 7000pound suv.

BURN OUT

Ya, it's kind of sad when I think about it...then I go off and time a 0-60 or something

The Edelbrocks are great. I got the for about $68 each which is about the best you can do. I found them from $68 to $72 each. I hear Edelbrock has a rebate going on right now that's about $27 I think. I did install them. Not a problem. Read some post about installin shocks (may have to go the other forum). A trick it the keep the staps on the rears until they are in place, or you'll be hand compressing them. Not sure how big you are, but you'd better be big and in shape. Fronts aren't bad. I lifted mine so I could slide them right up.

There used to be a guy, LaserNav I think, on the ofther forum with a 2000 Navigator that could turn all 4's. I say turn becasue according to hom, it was more of a "turn" than a burn. That's not bad at all. He had a goal of 400 HP without gogo juice and naturaly asperated.

Something's wrong with your truck. I have a 2001 with 4,400 miles on it, and it will burn out anytime I hit it too hard. In fact I nearly lost it at an intersection once because it decided to play with or without me in attendance. I have the 5.4 with no modifications, on General tires.

There is nothing wrong with my truck.

The problem with my 99 is that they have a4wd. Your expy does not!

All 99 have this stupid feature that once the rear wheels spin the front wheel will kick in.

In near future I am getting a Supercharge Kenne Bell or Whipple

With much power to the wheel. I will have no problem burning the tires.

BURN OUT

I have a 97 EB and have left quite a bit of tire on the street! Maybe it was just that particular parking lot but I left at least 20 feet or more of skid mark!

What's the reason for the burnouts??

BURN OUT

For the hardcore, I am sure you could install a vacuum switch up stream from the diff actuator. Kill the air path and the front end will not engage. Seems like a lot for burn outs though
