Next mod, need advice

I just ordered a wicked wheel for my truck to reduce the surge I have after the 6637 mod. I also have a small oil leak from the hole in the cover under the torque converter. I thought I remember reading this could be something on top of the motor running down the back of it and leaking out the bottom. Am I right on this? If this could be the case I would like to take care of it all while I have the turbo off. So my question is, what else should I do and order before tearing into this? I don't want the truck down for more than a weekend if possible. I also want to do an exhaust system. Is this the best time to do it as well, while the turbo is off? Thanks for all the help in the past and the future.

Yes, most likely you have a leak on the topside of the motor verses underneath. The oil just makes it way down there. You may want to get some Simple Green and wash out the valley prior to pulling your turbo to see where the leak is coming from. It could be from the HPOP or your turbo pedestal o-rings. If you find the source, have Guzzle send you some replacement o-rings ASAP so you have them this weekend. Replacement O-rings for Ford Diesel Engines

You'll need your turbo on the engine to install the new exhaust downpipe and get it lined up correctly.

Leaks

I would start by really cleaning the engine up with simple green and a garden hose, no high presure water though. Once you have it good and clean, you should be able to get a better idea of where the oil leak is coming from. If its in the back, its most likely turbo pedastal orings or EBPV leaking in the pedastal. If it is that, when you have the turbo out, go ahead and do Orings or rebuild EBPV.

The exhaust you can do any time, 2 guys and its a breeze. it is doable with one, but mucho easier with 2.

Edit, Chris is faster.....

Ok will clean everything up and see if the oil is up on top. What will I have to take off to see these things, or is it visible with everything in place? What advantage is there to gutting the pedestal and taking the ebpv out, and are there any disadvantages?

Mabe the black cover over the fuel filter housing to see around the HPOP and a mirror on a rod would also come in handy to see under the turbo. If its oil and coming from around the Turbo you can get a turbo reinstall kit from guzzle O rings and that should cover it. If its around the front you can do your WW install and fix the leak later. I deleated the EBPV on mine this last weekend. Only downfall I can see in LA is I wont be able to tune it as an exaust brake. Advantage is I dont have to worry about it leaking again. Yes thats where the oil was coming from but mainley just when the valve was activated. To delete it is a snap. 1/4" pipe tap 1/4"plug and snapring pliers. Nothing to it.

Oh yea when I installed the WW I wish I would of had the bellowed up pipes to put on. Just saying the exaust could wait till later. But exaust is important to keep EGT's down

Ok got a smokin deal on an exhaust system today that I just couldn't pass up, so that will definitely be going on during this process. My big question though is what will I need to be prepared for and have on hand, and what other mods should I do while the turbo is off? I guess is what is the worse case scenario when it all comes apart? I probably won't have the dough to do bellowed up pipes at the moment.

Spraying PB Blaster on your downpipe clamp will help with removal when it's time to install your exhaust. Also, a Sawsall with some 9" metal blades to cut apart your old system.
