I put my boat in the water yesterday and went to back the trailer away. Heard a big bang and now I have no reverse but it will go forward. Can anyone tell what happened and how much will this cost?
When you are moving the shifter how does it fee? Does it just slide around like its not engaging anything or does it feel like it always has?
About a month ago I took a turn and hit a bump on the side of the road and when I left my meeting I didn't have anything but reverse and that didn't engage until I got all the way down into 1st gear. Lucky for me all it turned out to be was a plastic piece had broken off and needed to be reinstalled so it cost less the $100 from my shop. And that was just the labor they didn't even charge me for the piece. If you don't trust the shop they may try to charge you more but this is what it could be.
